When to plant Celosia
Vivid, heat-loving annuals in flame-like plume or brain-like crested ('cockscomb') forms. They thrive in summer heat that flattens other flowers and shrug off humidity. Both the fresh and dried flowers hold their colour beautifully.

How to grow Celosia
Celosia is usually started indoors and transplanted out, giving this tender crop the head start it needs. Give it full sun and space plants about 10 inches apart. It takes roughly 80 days from planting to its first harvest, so count that against your frost dates to be sure it can finish. Classic companions include a bold filler for the cutting garden; draws pollinators.
Grower's tip: A heat-loving tender annual — wait for warm soil; the plume and crested 'cockscomb' forms both dry well.

Timing shifts with your climate — the same celosia goes in weeks earlier in a mild zone than a cold one. Find your zone below for its planting window, or open that zone's full calendar.
